Water Sports in Phuket

Given the fantastic location on the Andaman sea it's no surprise that water sports are one of the big attractions of the area.  The waters are sparking clean in a way that you won't see many places outside of postcards.

Scuba Diving near Phuket

There are a lot of dive shops and operators -- make sure you look out for the PADI symbol to ensure you have a properly trained diver with you.

Boating and Sailing around the island

Kayaking on the Andaman Sea

This is something special here -- while diving or sailing can basically be done anywhere there is enough water, the type of kayaking you find in Phuket is a little special.  The geography of the island creates these amazing bays and caves which you can explore by canoe/kayak.  Most of the actual destinations are in the nearby Krabi or Phang Nga Bay, which are an hour or two by boat from the Phuket harbor.

Any dive shop or hotel tour desk will be able to arrange these kinds of trips for you.  Do watch out for the fact that it may be a long drive from your hotel to the actual pier in the south of Phuket where boats leave for these destinations.

If you have more time there are also non-sea Kayaking adventures.  Phuket is a large island and the hinterland has many interesting sites, which most beach-loving tourists never see.  For the best use of your time you may want to consider an overnight trip -- which also means that you can go to places like Khao Sok National Park
